The Under 14's Potton Colts FC team sponsored by Wilkins Chimney Sweep have swept their way to another league victory!
A point was all that was needed to seal victory in the league and we were up against the only team in the league that have beaten us this season.
Potton Colts FC 2-1 Willingham Wolves
Potton got off to a flyer attacking from the off and Joe got the ball and dribbled past a couple of players to get an excellent early goal. Willingham then had a lot of the ball in a wind assisted half but Curtis wasn't forced to make too many saves.
The second half started in much the same way. Eventually the ball fell to Luke who struck it well to get Potton's second. Willingham regrouped quickly and put pressure on Potton eventually forcing a scrappy goal to claw one back. Willingham continued to push forcing some good saves from Curtis with the ball swerving in the wind. Potton kept several corners out to protect the slender advantage and finished the game with 3 points and most important of all guaranteed first place in the league with 2 games left.
WELL DONE TEAM & thanks to Roy for reffing and Andy for linesman duty (plus all those that helped with nets, and keeping everyone fed with tea, coffee and chocolate. Also thanks to Alan for some rather tasty sausage baps from the Potton Market.
Next up Sawston.
We'll done Potton Colts FC.
