Match Report

Potton U17's hosted Gransden at The Hollow on Wednesday night in a charity match to raise funds for local men's charity "For Men to Talk". The game was yet again another closely fought encounter.

Potton took the lead after 5 minutes after some great work and neat finish from Anesu. Gransden pushed forward and a free kick from 20 yards out forced Curtis into a great save. The game was quite even with both teams playing some nice attacking football. After half an hour Gransden had a free kick on the edge of the area which Curtis did well to parry, but the ball somehow ended up in the net to level things up. As the game headed towards half time Potton broke down the right wing and Anesu neatly flicked in the cross to put Potton 2-1 up at the break.

The 2nd half was just as evenly contested and both teams should probably added to their tally but good goalkeeping from both sides kept the score at 2-1. Gransden piled on the pressure at the end but Potton held on for a very hard fought 2-1 win.

Thanks to Roy and James for ref & linesman duties & good luck to both teams for the upcoming season.
