The best Cup run the team had ever seen led the U12's to the Cup Final on Saturday 12th May 2018.
The final was played at The Cambridge Football Stadium on Trumpington Road, Cambridge. Both teams had changing rooms for the first time and came out the tunnel together, behind the officials to then be announced to the awaiting families and supporters.
Around eighty people watched the game, which is more than some non-league games, so the players must have felt the pressure ahead of the game.
The FA supplied an official referee and two official linesmen for the match to ensure fair play was observed all round.
For Potton, the game got off to a shakey start resulting in going into the break 0 - 3 down, but at half time we still felt a strong start to the second half could see us back in the game and the boys were keen to get back out on the pitch, even if the officials were still having a cup of tea.
Sadly, we lost a couple of goals early in the second half and the writing was on the wall, the Cup was going to Red Lodge and Potton were to be the Runners Up.
Many footballers never get to play in a Cup Final, so what the boys have achieved this season has been amazing, the continued support from the parents, families and friends undoubtedly encourages them to better and better performances so who knows what the future holds...
