Saffron Walden 1-2 Potton

Another long away trip resulted in us playing on the best pitch of the season midweek to the worst!

The pitch was long, full of weeds, a tree stump in one of the goals and no visible lines.

The opposition did not seem to care, and the ref despite saying he would call off if an adult game, allowed it to go ahead as in his words.... it wasn't a cup final!

Nigel got his spray paint out and gave us lines of sort.

The boys looked tired from their midweek efforts and we had a few attempts but could not find the killer touch.

Just before half time we scored with Olly pressuring the defence and the defender putting past the keeper. Olly tapping in on the goal line although was hard to see through the wild flowers! No mow May and all that!

We started the second half better and a long free kick from Deon allowed Olly Young to head in to put us two up and in control.

Isaac hit the bar with a trademark long ranger which would have killed the game off and the Saffron goalie made a few great one on one saves.

An unfortunate own goal allowed Saffron to make it a nervous last ten minutes but the boys held on and saw the game out.

Men of the match went to Alfie and Henry.

Three games to go - three wins = second place and promotion!
